The Deshastha community migrated to south india
from Maharasthra nearly 500 years ago in search of livelihood and safety.
Later on these migrated deshastha families adored south india and
mixed with local people in living, tradition and culture.
Deshastha families are living away from their
native land for a long years, most of them have neither visited their home
land nor the place of their family deity, yet we find many deshastha
families speaking Marathi at home and still retaining Maharastrian
traditions.
This book covers their history, family
deities, culture, tradition and important personalities of Maharasthra
